Apple Shed Is Awarded 2009 Small Business Of The Year District 32 - Kern County
Apple Shed owners honored at California Small Business luncheon
Assemblymember Jean Fuller (R-Bakersfield) honored Jacques and Mary Lou Vachon, owners of The Apple Shed, in Tehachapi, at the 2009 California Small Business Day Luncheon in Sacramento.
Each California State Assemblymember was encouraged to select one small business in their district that is owned by individuals who have significantly contributed to their community. Small business owners were honored and presented with an award at the celebration on May 26th.
Fuller chose Jacque and Mary Lou Vachon because of their generous support and dedication to the Tehachapi community businesses, organizations, and citizens.
“I am privileged to recognize Jacque and Mary Lou,” said Fuller, “Their passion and devotion to the City of Tehachapi and its residents is truly something to be admired and honored.”
“It was such an honor to share time with other small business owners, and find out that a lot of the issues we have, they have too,” said Jacque and Mary Lou. “It was also beneficial to hear directly from the governor how some of the state financial issues are going to be dealt with. We look forward to working with Assemblymember Jean Fuller to address some of the issues that were shared at the luncheon, as well as being more active in the small business organizations that we met there. We thank our employees for making this award possible, and the City of Tehachapi, Main Street and The Heritage League for their support.”
Ida Perkins, President of the Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce, said, “It is very exciting for our community to have a small business received such an honor. The Apple Shed is a destination point, bringing numerous visitors to our historic downtown area. The Chamber is very proud of the Apple Shed and all of their accomplishments.”
Assemblymember Fuller represents the 32nd Assembly District, which includes Bakersfield, Ridgecrest, Tehachapi, Taft, Kern River Valley and the Frazier Mountain communities.
